Author Ben Mikaelsen coming to Niskayuna on May 10 for evening program with parents and students

Acclaimed Author Ben Mikaelsen, whose writing has touched young people and families far and wide, is coming to Niskayuna for a special presentation for students and parents on Wednesday, May 10. This event is geared toward students in grade 5 and older, along with their parents.

It will be held in the Niskayuna High School Little Theater from 7 p.m. to 8:45 p.m. He will discuss how he became a writer, his personal experiences with bullying growing up, and the challenges his characters face surrounding bullying, which is a strong theme in his work.

This special event is being made available at no cost thanks to the generosity of the Niskayuna Community Foundation.

Those who plan to attend are asked to RSVP to Van Antwerp English teacher Michael Pletman at mpletman@niskyschools.org by May 1. The Little Theater has a capacity for 190, and if attendance will exceed that number, the high school auditorium can be available with sufficient notice.

Ben Mikaelsen is the author of numerous classic books such as Petey, Touching Spirit Bear, Countdown, Stranded, Jungle of Bones, Tree Girl, Sparrow Hawk Red, and several others. Mr. Mikaelsen will be available to autograph books after his presentation.
