The Niskayuna Central School District was ranked as the highest performing
school system out of 84 districts in the 11-county greater Capital Region in the
latest "Schools Report" from the Albany Business Review.
The report was published today, Friday, June 24. The rankings are based on student achievement data from the New York State Education Department and include graduation rate, the percentage of students who plan to attend college, and the percentage of graduates who obtain an advanced Regents diploma.
In addition to the No. 1 overall ranking, the district ranked first in Math performance in the region and second in English. Niskayuna High School was the top ranking high school in the region.
"This level of achievement is the result of an incredibly talented faculty and staff, our students' hard work and love for learning, and our community's longstanding support for education," Superintendent Dr. Cosimo Tangorra, Jr. said. "A tradition of excellence and high-quality educational experiences for children has been built and nurtured in Niskayuna for many years, and we are grateful for everyone who has worked to make that possible. It's a community effort."
The district has been ranked No. 1 in the region twice in the last four years, and was ranked second in the other two.
