The ninth-annual Warrior Track and Field Classic on Saturday, April 16 will
include nearly 40 teams from various schools with more than 1,000
competitors from across New York state as well as neighboring states.
This year, Niskayuna's invitational event will also include a Coaches vs. Cancer fundraiser, thanks to meet director Jason DeRocco. Proceeds from the fundraiser will go to the Niskayuna Relay for Life scheduled for Friday, June 10 at the Niskayuna High School track.
Niskayuna girl's outdoor track and field coach Talene Shaffer believes that, while students will be competing against each other in the track and field events, raising money with Coaches vs. Cancer helps bring communities together. "In a way, we're unifying our community with other school communities to fight for the same cause," she said.
Donations will be accepted at the Warrior Track and Field Classic beginning at 9 a.m. on April 16, or download the donation form here.
