After nearly 400
votes cast and the results tallied, Rosendale Elementary School
has a new mascot: the Ravens.
Ravens received 36% of the total vote while Raptors came in second with 25%, Raccoons were in third with 21% and Rockets were not far behind with 18% to round out the voting.
Rosendale Principal Joseph DiCaprio said the goal of the new mascot is to build unity and spirit among the student body and the school community as a whole. In May, the school will begin the search for a logo design to go along with the new mascot. This process will be open to anyone in the school, district and community.
DiCaprio was happy to see the school community come together to participate in the mascot vote. “I would like to thank everyone who offered a suggestion, voted and participated in this fun and unifying event,” DiCaprio said. “We hope to see the same spirit in May as we look for community inspiration and participation to create the new logo.”
For now, a bulletin board created by Rosendale Clerical Assistant Cindy Wilde, greets students with a temporary mascot until the new logo is designed.
