Congratulations to Iroquois math teacher Kateri Skinner who recently earned
prestigious National Board Certification. The National Board for Professional
Teaching Standards formally announced this year's newest Board certified
teachers earlier this month.
Often referred to as the "gold standard for accomplished teaching," the National Board for Professional Teaching Standards likens the performance-based, peer-review process to Board certification in medicine.
Earning the credential involves deep reflection of an educators' teaching practices and demonstration of their effectiveness and accomplishments in the classroom. Candidates complete 10 assessments that are reviewed by trained teachers in their certificate areas.
Niskayuna has 34 teachers with National Board Certification, and over time has been a leader in New York state.
