"Managing Technology - Sensible Ways to Set Limits and Why You Must Do This Now," will feature an exploration of this issue with parenting expert Dr. Randy Cale and Niskayuna Elementary Counselor Anita Andersen. The program will take place from 8:15 a.m. to 9:15 a.m. at Craig School. It is free and open to all. (If attendance warrants, it may be moved to the school's cafeteria.)
Cale will address questions such as, "Should I monitor my child's usage of the Internet, and if so, how?" and "What about privacy and my relationship with my kids?"
Cale is a licensed psychologist, author, speaker and parenting expert. November 18 is one workshop in the four-part "Coffee with Cale" series taking place this year. At each session, he and Andersen explore a different topic that often surfaces as challenges for families with elementary-age children. The programs will be timely, focused and filled with practical advice. A complete schedule of "Coffee with Cale" programs is available as a PDF right here.
Some of the other questions Cale will address on the November 18 technology presentation include:
Why talk about video games, social media, Internet usage and Cyber-safety?
How can you set limits without spending your life standing over their shoulder?
Video games, violence and aggression: What should I do to protect my kids?
Craig Principal Bill Anders will begin the workshop with a brief report on an elementary parent cyber survey conducted in the district last year.
