"A Parent's Guide to Special Education," published by the New York State Education Department, is also a helpful resource.
Student athletes must have a current physical to participate in interscholastic athletics. A current physical is one that has been completed within one year of the month in which the sport starts. Beginning in 2016-17, the district will be offering sports physicals with the school physician during the summer only. Prospective student-athletes are encouraged to complete their physical during this time, as this will provide eligibility for the entire year and is free of charge. Consistent with state regulations, the district has adopted an Athletic Placement Process effective with the 2015-16 school year. This takes the place of the former Selective Classification Process, and is the mechanism for students to safely participate at an appropriate level of competition, including middle school students who qualify to participate at a higher level.
