2018-19 School Budget Timeline

The budget development calendar was outlined at the Sept. 26, 2017 meeting of the Board of Education. The school budget vote will be held on Tuesday, May 15, 2018.

Jan. 9, 2018

  • Transportation and School Lunch budget presentations to the Board of Education

Meeting is at 6 p.m. in the District Office Board Room

Jan. 23, 2018

  • Technology and Operations and Maintenance budget presentations to the Board of Education

Meeting is at 6 p.m. at Glencliff Elementary School

Feb. 6, 2018

  • Special Education budget presentation to the Board of Education

Meeting is at 6 p.m. at Rosendale Elementary School

Feb. 27, 2018

  • Instructional budget presented to the Board of Education

Meeting is at 6 p.m. in the District Office Board Room

March 1, 2018

Submit 2018-19 calculation for tax levy limit to Office of the State Comptroller, Tax & Finance and New York State Education Department

March 13, 2018

  •  Presentation of 2018-19 propsed budget to the Board of Education

  • Submit Property Tax Report Card to New York State Education Department and to local newspaper of general circulation (if budget is adopted on March 27)

April 16, 2018

  • Deadline for submission of petitions for nominations of Board of Education candidates
  • Inform candidates of legal requirements for all candidates for election to the Board of Education to file sworn statements for campaign contributions and distribute informational materials
  • Deadline for submission of petitions for propositions to be placed on the ballot

April 17, 2018

  • Drawing by District Clerk for determination of order for listing Board candidates on the ballot
  • 2018-19 budget discussion with the Board of Education
  • Adopt 2018-19 budget (if needed)

April 20, 2018

  • Final date for budget adoption by the Board of Education

Budget Hearing

  • District clerk must maintain a list of names of those residents who were given absentee aballots and make such list available for public inspection in the five days prior to the annual meeting
  • Sworn statement of campaign contributions or loans in excess of $1,000, received before vote date and not previously reported, to be filed with the District Clerk and Commissioner of Education within 24 hours of receipt by candidates for membership on the Board of Education

May 14, 2018

  • Last day for absentee ballots to be requested in person

May 15, 2018

  • Statewide school budget vote and Board member election day; Polls open at Niskayuna High School from 7 a.m. to 9 p.m.
