Summer Reading

Summer is a wonderful opportunity to take advantage of the time to read. Find out what your friends are reading, talk to your parents about what they are reading, and explore the links below and suggested titles. With the adoption of the NYS Common Core Standards for ELA and Literacy, we have seen an increase in the amount of high quality informational/non-fiction books available for young adults. This year we are encouraging students to read widely, and explore areas of interest across literature and informational books.

Where to Find These Books:

We have notified The Open Door on Jay Street in Schenectady, Barnes & Noble in the Mohawk Commons shopping center in Schenectady and local town libraries to make sure these titles are stocked. In addition, many larger book stores and online book sellers will have these titles.

Online Resources:

1) Summer Reading At NY Libraries

2) International Reading Association

3) EBooks from MS Media Centers (See letter above for login info)
